Turning on and off Author’s access to view the Current Status

Because the system requires journals to identify Status changes at key points in the workflow, journals may be uncomfortable with the level of detail being revealed to the Authors in the Status column.  The journal office can turn off the Author’s access to Status information.

For example a status term might reveal that the reviews are completed, but the journal office does not want the Author to know that all the reviews are in because the Author will begin calling the journal to find out why the Editor has not made a Decision.  The status terms can be hidden from the Author so that the he does not have too much information.

To Configure:  This access can be turned on and off in RoleManager, under ‘Author Role’.  To allow access, click ‘View Current Status’.
