
Submitting new manuscripts
When an Author submits a New Manuscript in EM he is presented with a series of steps that lead him through the submission process. Many of the steps, and all of the onscreen instructions in each step, are customizable by the journal (see Configure Article Type, and Custom Instructions for Submit New Manuscript and Revised Manuscript in this document).
The steps that are required by EM are:
1) Enter Article Title
2) Enter Article Type
3) Attach Files
The steps that are not required by EM (but can be marked as required by the journal) are:
1) Add/Edit/Remove Authors
2) Submit Abstract
3) Enter Key Words
4) Select Classifications
5) Enter Comments
6) Request Editor
7) Select Region of Origin
To Configure: In PolicyManager, go to the ‘Submission Policies’ section and click the ‘Edit Article Types’ link. Then click the ‘Edit’ link for the Article Type you want to configure. If you select ‘Hidden’ for any Submission Item, it will not appear for the Author. If you click ‘Optional’, the Author has the option to provide information at this step. If you select ‘Required’, then the Author must provide information before moving on to the next Submission Step.
