Reviewer Instructions link
A link appears on the ‘Reviewer Recommendation and Comments’ screen called ‘Reviewer Instructions’, if a Reviewer clicks this link a window will open with custom instructions for the Reviewer. A journal must enter their instructions for Reviewers into the EM system, in PolicyManager, in order for this link to appear on the 'Reviewer Recommendation and Comments' screen.
To Configure: To enter your Reviewer instructions; go to System Administrator Functions, PolicyManager, 'Edit Review Form'. You will see two textboxes, one called ‘Reviewer Instructions’, the other called ‘Reviewer Form’. Type your instructions for Reviewers into the ‘Reviewer Instructions’ textbox. If the box is empty, the ‘Reviewer Instructions’ link will not appear on the ‘Reviewer Recommendation and Comments’ screen.
Note: Multiple Reviewer forms or questionnaires can be stored in the ‘Reviewer Instructions’ and can be copied and pasted by the Reviewer into the appropriate ‘Confidential Comments to Editor’ or ‘Blind Comments to Reviewer’ boxes. When the user clicks on the ‘Reviewer Instructions’ link, a new window will open. This window will contain the instructions that you entered in PolicyManager, 'Edit Review Form'. The Reviewer cannot edit anything in this window. They can, however, copy and paste from this window. This means that you can create multiple types of Reviewer forms/questionnaires for different Reviewer types and/or Article types. The Reviewer can copy the appropriate section of text and paste it into the appropriate box
Note: It is advisable to include instructions for Reviewers in your e-mail notification to Reviewers. It is typical for a journal to set up a letter containing instructions for Reviewers in ActionManager, in the event ‘Reviewer Agree’. This letter goes to the Reviewer after they have agreed to review the submission
Note: You may still find it useful to include instructions for Reviewers in the customizable form that appears in the 'Confidential Comments to Editor'
