Request Editor

If the journal’s site is configured for Editor selection by Author, then Authors can request that a particular Editor be assigned to the paper when submitting a manuscript.  The option to request a particular Editor is part of the Author’s ‘Submit New Manuscript’ and ‘Submit Revised Manuscript’ interfaces.

 

The submission may or may not be automatically sent to the chosen Editor.  The Journal Office can view the request, and take the request under advisement when assigning an Editor to the submission.  The Author’s request will be displayed on the Assign Editor page and in the submissions ‘Details’ page.

 

Or, if the journal is in ‘Direct-to-Editor’ mode, the submission will be sent to the selected Editor’s Direct-to-Editor folder (see the Automatic Assignment of Editors at time of submission (Direct-to-Editor section)).

 

The journal can make this an optional or required step, or hide this step so that the Author does not see it.  If the journal is operating in Direct-to-Editor mode, then this step should be required.
