Receiving Invited Submissions

All invited articles related to a proposal will be received in the ‘New Submissions Requiring Assignments’ folder (just like a regular submission).  The submission will need to be assigned to an Editor who will handle the Peer Review process (if necessary) and make a decision.

A new ActionManager event allows the journal to receive a letter when an Author submits an invited manuscript.  This event is called ‘Child Submission Sent to Journal’ and is similar to the ‘New Submission Sent to Journal’ event.  This new event can be used to distinguish invited submissions from unsolicited submissions.

Once the Editor is assigned, the submission can follow whatever workflow the journal wishes.  For example, the Editor can assign another Editor, Invite Reviewers, or Submit a Decision.
