-          View Manuscript Details - refers to the appearance or suppression of the ‘Details’ link on a submission record, or anywhere else the ‘Details’ link may appear in the future.

-          View Production Notes on Manuscript Details - allows the user to review the ‘Production Notes’ accessible from the Manuscript ‘Details’ screen.

-          Edit Production Notes on Manuscript Details - allows the Publisher to view and edit the ‘Production Notes’ via a link on the Manuscript ‘Details’ Screen.

-          View Manuscript Notes on Manuscript Details - refers to the ability to view the ‘Notes’ field on the ‘Details’ page.  This ‘Notes’ field will contain all of the notes entered and saved by the Editors and journal staff.

-          Edit Manuscript Notes on Manuscript Details - allows the user to not only view the ‘Notes’ field on the ‘Details’ page, but edit that field as well.

-          View Additional Manuscript Details - gives the Publisher Role user access to any ‘Additional Manuscript’ Information that has been added.  Access is through the ‘Details’ screen.

-          Edit Additional Manuscript Details - gives the user permission to both view and edit the ‘Additional Manuscript Details’ for a given manuscript.

-          Download Source Files - refers to the ability to download a Zip file containing the source files associated with each manuscript.  This Zip file is created at the time of PDF creation.  The Publisher Role currently has the functionality to download Source Files in a Zip format.

-          Download Companion Files - allows the user to download Companion Files that are associated with the manuscript.  Companion Files are not built into the submission PDF.

-          Upload, Hide and Restore Companion Files - allows the user to upload hide and restore Companion files.  The user can therefore edit Companion files and reload them into the system as well as hide Companion files that are no longer needed in association with a given manuscript.

-          View All Accepted Submissions - gives the user the ability to view all submissions that have been accepted.

-          Download Metadata - refers to the ability to download a tab-delimited file (similar to the file created for custom reports) containing the values for the metadata fields that appear on the specific manuscript’s ‘Transmittal Form’.  This functionality is included to allow users to manipulate ‘Transmittal Form’ data for reporting purposes, and to accommodate production systems that are not linked directly to EM.

-          Turn On Manuscript Notes Flag - refers to the ability to activate the ‘Notes’ flag on the ‘Details’ page.  This ‘Notes’ flag is a visual cue to users that there is a note that should be read by anyone accessing the record.  The Editors and journal staff can set this flag as well.

-          Turn Off Manuscript Notes Flag - refers to the ability to deactivate the ‘Notes’ flag on the ‘Details’ page.  This ‘Notes’ flag is a visual cue to users that there is a note that should be read by anyone accessing the record.  Turning it off might indicate to others that the user has seen the note.

-          Send Ad Hoc Email - allows the user to send an ad hoc email regarding a specific manuscript to the journal office.

-          Search Similar Articles in MEDLINE - provides the user the ability to access similar articles in MEDLINE via a submission-specific action link.

-          Bibliographic Search - refers to the ability to access one or more bibliographic search engines directly from EM.

-          Search/Manage Conference Submissions - refers to the Publisher’s ability to use the ‘Search/Manage Conference Submission’ report.

-          View Submission Flags - allows the user to view all submission flags associated with a particular manuscript.

-          Turn On Submission Flags - allows the user to, via a link in the ‘Details’ page, choose (from a bank of previously configured options) flags to be attached to a particular manuscript.

-          Turn Off Submission Flags - allows the user, via the ‘Details’ page, to disable any flags that have been previously associated with the submission.

-          View Transmittal Form - refers to the Publisher Role’s ability to view the Transmittal Form, populated with data for the selected manuscript.

-          Edit Transmittal Form Fields - refers to the ability to edit the values in the journal-defined fields on the Transmittal Form.  If the Publisher Role is assigned this permission, the Transmittal Form displayed is editable for those fields.

-          Release Transmittal Form and Source Files to Production System - provides the ability to release the Transmittal Form and source files of a submission to an automated production system, if an automated production system is used by the journal/publisher.  This permission is not used if there is no automated production system.

-          Re-release Transmittal Form and Source Files to Production System - provides the ability to re-release the Transmittal Form and source files of a submission to an automated production system, if an automated production system is used by the journal/publisher.  The re-release is used when an error has occurred with the initial release, or if changes have been made to the submission and those changes need to be submitted to the automated production system.  Unlike the Editor Role, the Publisher Role is allowed to release the Transmittal Form to production multiple times, if necessary.  This permission is not used if there is no automated production system.
