Attach Files
In the EM system an Author must upload his submission files and the EM system will build the files into a single PDF. This process is similar to attaching files to an e-mail message.
All items in an Author’s submission must be sent via the Web or by traditional methods (e.g., courier service, postal mail or facsimile). For each Submissions Item, an Author must select either ‘Online Web System’ or ‘Offline’ by clicking the appropriate button. A journal can decide which Submissions Items must be sent online, which Submissions Items have an offline option, and which Submissions Items must be sent offline.
For each item an Author wants to include in his submission he must:
1) Choose the ‘Submissions Item’ from a drop-down box (Items that are required will be marked with an asterisk (*))
2) Enter a ‘Description’ in the textbox
3) Select the ‘Delivery Method’ by which the Item will reach the journal office (online or offline)
4) Locate the file on his hard drive using the ‘Browse’ button
5) Click ‘Attach This File’ to upload the file (uploading may take several minutes for larger files). As each file is attached, the Author will see a list of building at the bottom of the screen
Note: For each item to be sent offline, the Author should add the delivery method to the Description, and then click ‘Attach This Information’
The Author should repeat this process until all items in the submission have been specified. The Author can see everything he has attached in the list at the bottom of the page. The items can be re-ordered by the Author by clicking on the arrows next to each file. When all files have been attached, the Author clicks ‘Next’ at the bottom of the page. A message will prompt the Author if he left out any of the required pieces of the submission.
The Author should then click ‘Send’. A message will appear on the screen thanking him for his submission, and email verification will be sent (if configured by the journal). The manuscript will now be found in the ‘Submissions Waiting for Author’s Approval’ in the Author Main Menu. To complete the process the Author will need to make one final approval before the Editorial Office receives your submission.
Note: If the Author is unable to complete the submission process, his data will not be lost. The Author can access his unfinished submission in the ‘Incomplete Submissions’ list on the Author Main Menu.
