‘Download High Resolution Version’ Link

All PDFs are created at 72 dots per inch, which means that some images may not be as crisp or clear as the original source file.  The PDF is built at this resolution to reduce the size of the PDF so that downloading of the PDF is less burdensome to Reviewers and Editors - especially those who do not have high-speed Internet connections.

A link to a ‘high resolution’ version of the image is available for each image in the PDF, and is intended to provide the user with access to a better (higher resolution) version of the image if they need it.  When the link is clicked, the original source file will be downloaded and can be opened using any third party software program that can handle that file type.  Because a Reviewer may not require a higher resolution version of EVERY image in a submission, the link is available for EACH image and the Reviewer can download only those image files they need to see - thus reducing the frustration that downloading many large files might cause.
