You will need to create your manuscript in a standard word processing format. Create each figure in an individual .tiff, 300 dpi resolution file, separate from the manuscript text.
Once you have logged in as an Author, please follow these directions for submitting a manuscript.
[NOTE: You may have to scroll down the page to see the changes made as you submit each file.]
- Under New Submissions, click "Submit New Manuscript."
- Enter your article title where indicated. (Do not use all capitals for titles or names; e.g., do say: "Effect of amoxicillin;"
don't say: "EFFECT OF AMOXICILLIN.") Click "NEXT" and continue responding to the rest of the commands, which will take you step by step through the entire submission process,
as outlined below.
"Selecting an Article Type" - e.g., Original Research, Clinical Photo, etc. Click "NEXT."
"Add/Edit/Remove Authors" - Fill in names of first author, corresponding author, and all other authors.
(Again, don't use all capitals or all lowercase for names.)
[NOTE only corresponding authors have access to information in Editorial Manager.] Click "NEXT."
"Selecting a Section/Category" - From the drop-down menu, select "Domestic" or
"International Submission." Click "NEXT."
"Submitting an Abstract" - Paste in the Abstract from your word processing file.
[ NOTE: You must enter your Abstract in the designated box as well as submitting it as part of
the manuscript.
You can copy and paste the 150-word Abstract from your word processing file into this box.]
"Selecting a Classification" - Check box of specialty into which your manuscript falls. Click "Submit." Click "NEXT."
- At the "Attach Files" section, click the drop-down menu and pick "Complete Manuscript." Hit the
browse button, which will take you to your own word processing files. Double-click on your manuscript file; you will see the file name is now in the window. Click "Attach This Information."

- If your manuscript contains figures, follow these steps to attach those files correctly:
a.) In the drop-down menu next to "Item," click on "Figure." Your selection will appear in the window next to "Description."
Item: 
b.) You must now insert a number after the word "Figure," e.g.
Description: 
c.) At the "File Name:" window, click on the "Browse" button. This will take you into your own computer files.
Double-click on your Figure file, which now will appear in the window next to "File Name."
Click on "Attach This File."
Repeat process until all Figures are attached.
- Now, back at the "Attach Files" section, click the drop-down menu again and pick "Copyright Transfer and Disclosure Agreement." Click "Attach This Information."
Scroll down and you will see your manuscript listed as being submitted on-line, and the Copyright Transfer and Disclosure Agreement Form as being submitted off-line via fax or mail. (We need signatures for this form).
- Click "Next", click "Build PDF" and follow directions. Once you have viewed your submission, click on Approve Submission. Then you are done. Thank you.
