Location

Our US offices are spread between three buildings conveniently located a short distance from the shops and restaurants of downtown North Andover. Once described by Money Magazine as the “Fifth Best Community to live in on the East Coast”, North Andover is bordered by the towns of Andover, North Reading, Boxford, and Middleton. We are only 30 minutes from the ocean and less than 2 hours from the White Mountains of NH. Local schools include Merrimack College, Brooks School, and Phillips Academy. Software Engineering

Software Engineer (Mid Level)

We have exciting career opportunities available for Mid Level Software Engineers with between 3 and 5 years experience working in large-scale web application development environments using Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET (and Classic ASP), SQL Server, and JavaScript.  You will be responsible for coding product specifications, code maintenance, unit testing, participating in code reviews, and collaborating with other team members and business analysts to solve difficult problems.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency with SQL and relational database design (SQL Server 2008 preferred), ASP.NET (as well as Classic ASP), C# (3.5/4.0), Web Forms, JavaScript, CSS, XML, and general OOP concepts.
  • Experience with C++, Linux, AJAX, design patterns, LaTeX, web services, test-driven development and source control systems (AccuRev preferred) are a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, bug fixing and troubleshooting skills.
  • Logical self starter with a positive, can-do attitude and a desire to work with others to successfully tackle technical and business problems.
  • Above-average writing and communication skills.

Client Services

Account Coordinator

Our Client Services department has an exciting opportunity available for an Account Coordinator to join the Support Team.  The Account Coordinator (AC) will guide customers through the implementation of our Editorial Manager (EM) and ProduXion Manager (PM) software, as well as provide ongoing support.  The AC is responsible for assisting our customers in configuring and using EM and PM to work with their editorial and publishing workflow, and providing extensive customer training for both services.  ACs troubleshoot and track customer questions and suggestions related to the set up and subsequent use of the EM and PM software.  As this position has potential to develop into a Sr. Account Coordinator role, we are looking for a candidate capable of managing large publisher accounts, as well as someone with a strong interest in exploring new developments in the STM publishing community.   The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years experience working in a software support / customer service-related field or in an editorial office.  Experience in the scholarly publishing industry is extremely beneficial, but not required. 

Requirements:

  • Maintain direct contact with customers and troubleshoot software-related issues that they and their end-users may experience.
  • Coordinate implementation of customer data.
  • Scheduling and implementation of system training.
  • Perform EM and PM software testing, and recreate system problems the customer may experience.
  • Act as liaison between customers, Product Management, and the Engineering staff.
  • Manage all projects for assigned customers, such as feature development requests, custom reports, ongoing training needs, custom tutorials, etc.
  • Ability to understand and identify potential growth opportunities within assigned accounts.
  • Proactively contact customers regarding new features that might be beneficial to their workflow
  • Conduct sessions at our annual User’s Group Meeting, preparing presentations and presenting to group sessions.

Education, Experience, Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Basic understanding of customer support in web based environments a must.

Translation Specialist

Our Client Services department has an immediate need for part-time/project-based translation services in support of scheduled version releases of our products.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the translation, editing and revision of our product support documents.  This documentation is written in common English, contains both business and technical terminology, and must be translated into both French and Spanish equivalents.  The level of effort required may vary, and after an initial “catch-up period” we estimate that it will be 40 hours at each release, with three releases scheduled annually.  We desire a continuous relationship with the right individual.  Although this is an off-site position, we are only interested in local candidates as occasional office visits (particularly for training) may be required.  In addition to the above, the best suited individual will have experience working with technology, ideally in a software or publishing industry setting.

Requirements:

  • Acquire user-level knowledge and understanding of the Editorial Manager and ProduXion Manager products via training we will provide.
  • Translation of web pages from English into both French and Spanish coinciding with product release cycles using a web-based translation tool.
  • Ad-hoc translation tasks as required.

Education, Experience, Skills:

  • Exceptional skill in written English  
  • Ability to translate written English into both French & Spanish with native fluency
  • Edit and revise existing materials
  • Produce expected results while working remotely with little oversight
  • Thorough with a great attention to detail

Marketing Manager

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role within scholarly journals publishing.  The position reports to the VP of Sales and Marketing.   The successful candidate will have responsibility for all departmental activities as well as the expansion of existing marketing programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage two marketing staff while implementing marketing initiatives including conference exhibits, marketing pieces, newsletters, User Group meetings, Social Media pages, Web sites etc.
  • Produce clear and compelling marketing materials and copy based on sound understanding of Aries product offering.
  • Undertake competitive analysis by appropriately participating in sales process and industry events.
  • Manage external vendor relationships either directly or through staff.
  • Liaise with Product Management department concerning market requirements and upcoming developments.
  • Engage in strategic thinking to propose and implement new marketing, branding and corporate positioning initiatives.

Education, Experience, Skills:

  • Prior experience in Scholarly Publishing is required.
  • Exceptional writing skill, marketing copy in particular, is essential.  
  • Appropriate professional experience including at least four years in a similar marketing role is required.
  • Ability to rapidly develop (or currently have) a good understanding of Aries’ market position and product offerings.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Thorough with a great attention to detail.
  • Able to learn (or have experience with) applications such as Constant Contact, Salesforce and Cvent.

Our Marketing department has an immediate need for an experienced Marketing Specialist.  The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role within scholarly journals publishing.  The position reports to the Marketing Manager who reports to the VP of Sales and Marketing.   The successful candidate will have responsibility for the operational aspects of the company’s marketing initiatives.  This is an important position, crucial to the continued growth and vitality of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Acquire detailed product knowledge so as to be totally fluent in all the features and benefits offered by the Aries solution.
  • Work with the Marketing Assistant to implement marketing initiatives including conference exhibits, marketing pieces, newsletters, User Group meetings, Social Media pages, Web site etc.
  • Produce clear and compelling marketing materials and copy.
  • Manage vendor relationships.
  • Produce instructional videos.
  • Administer marketing activities using SalesForce, Constant Contact, Cvent and other online tools.
  • Make web site content edits.

Education, Experience, Skills:

  • Appropriate professional experience, ideally within scholarly journals publishing.
  • Exceptional writing skill, marketing copy in particular, is essential.   
  • Ability to rapidly develop a good understanding of Aries’ market position and product offerings.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Thorough with a great attention to detail.
  • We use graphical editing tools such as InDesign, Photoshop and Camtasia, so relevant experience is desirable.
